The Executive Coaching Consultancy has teamed up with Coram Family to help support them with their Baby Pack Appeal.
Many disadvantaged young families who, through no fault of their own, struggle to give their babies the right care. This is partly a financial issue, state benefits and grants simply do not cover the full cost of nursery equipment. It is also emotional, as these parents often have no support and involvement from their own family. A young woman who has been brought up in care, and who has no contact with her mother, will have an incredibly tough and lonely time learning to cope with her new baby.
This lack of support, education and resources puts babies at great risk. Just to give you an example: a baby being fed with an unsterilised bottle is clearly vulnerable to serious infection. Coram Family already does a wonderful job educating disadvantaged young parents in the essentials of childcare, but these families need proper equipment too. For this reason, the Baby Pack project is an extremely important initiative.
Each Baby Pack will protect a fragile newborn baby from the health risks inherent in a disadvantaged and poorly-equipped home. But equally, the Pack will give the parents confidence, demonstrating to them that they have a right to guidance and support as much as any other family.
By supporting Coram's Baby Pack project, you will be giving young parents the practical equipment they need to keep their baby safe and healthy. But also be assuring them that, in the absence of their own social and emotional support networks, they are not being left to cope alone.
